Carnival Cruise Lines’ Carnival Valor rescued five boaters from a pleasure craft sinking in bad weather near St. Maarten.
The adult mariners were brought onboard the cruise ship, evaluated by the ship’s medical team, and given food and water. Two Carnival deck officers suffered bruises during the Dec. 21 rescue.
Carnival Valor was on the last leg of a seven-day cruise that departed San Juan last on Dec. 15.
The rescue is in line with Carnival’s long-standing practice of assisting distressed mariners and vessels at sea.
