Cyprus-based Louis plc, the publicly listed parent of Louis Cruises and a hotel group, said it is showing profits of $4.1 million for the first nine months of 2013, which it described as a “considerable year-over-year improvement” and “welcome news amid Greece’s continued financial crisis.”

The company said the increase was largely due to increased sales by Athens-based Louis Cruises.

The cruise line, which has five ships, markets two to North Americans -- the 1,664-passenger Louis Olympia and the 1,200-passenger Louis Cristal.

The company strives to offer the quintessential Greek experience, with visits to lesser-known ports in the islands, the cuisine and the entertainment.

“This exciting announcement regarding Louis Cruises’ profitability thus far in 2013 confirms we are on the right track by providing a distinctive, authentic Greek cruise experience that engages all five senses for each of our passengers,” said Nicholas Filippidis, director of product development in North America for Louis Cruises.
