Hurtigruten Helping Agents Save Clients up to 40 Percent Off
Cruise Line & Cruise Ship Hurtigruten May 27, 2014

Hurtigruten is giving travel agents a head start on their upcoming “Norway Five-Day Summer Sale” with a pre-booking period from May 27-June 1. This Midnight Sun season sale reduces fares during the prime season by up to 40 percent off regular prices. The actual sale period runs from June 2-6 and includes numerous Coastal Voyage departures in August, on the six- seven-, 11-, or 12-night itineraries. Booking an 11- or 12-day voyage adds a $50 per person shipboard credit and no single supplement opportunities are available on select sailings. Although this sale is focused on August, other dates in 2014 have similar savings during the sale.
Savings examples on starting fares:
Classic Round Trip – 12 days: $2,189 vs. $4,183 – a savings of $1,994 per person
Norwegian Discovery – 11 days: $2,066 vs. $3,857 - a savings of $1,791 per person
Classic Voyage North – seven days: $1,454 vs. $2,811 - a savings of $1,357 per person
Classic Voyage South – six days: $1,275 vs. $2,381 – a savings of $1,106 per person
Agents need to use booking code FS10. This sale is not combinable with any other savings program excepting the company’s loyalty program, 1893 Ambassador, which offers repeat guests an additional 5 percent savings and other perks. This offer is on new bookings only and is capacity controlled.
The “Midnight Sun” is a natural phenomenon that takes place north of the Arctic Circle during the summer months – where the sun lights the sky 24 hours a day – and gives travelers an exciting, round-the-clock Norway experience. Recognized as “The world’s most beautiful voyage,” by Lonely Planet, Hurtigruten’s modern ships sail along a route honored twice by National Geographic Traveler as the “Best Destination in the World.” A staple of Norwegian culture for more than 120 years, the Classic Voyage offers a unique glimpse into Norwegian culture.
The incredible diversity of ports offers Hurtigruten’s guests a wealth of experiences and an ever-changing landscape of small fishing villages in the rugged Lofoten Islands; Art Nouveau ålesund, the medieval Viking capital of Trondheim; and Norway's “Paris of the North,” Tromsø. A variety of more than 50 excursions are available and range from the cultural such as Tromsø’s Midnight Concert in the Arctic Cathedral and Lofotr Viking Feast to the more adventurous options like an evening trot under the midnight sun on gentle Icelandic horses and a high-octane RIBAdventure in Lofoten on a rigid-hulled inflatable boat.
Savings vary by date, length of voyage and cabin/suite selection. Hurtigruten is providing an easy-to-use email template for travel agents to send to their clients, as well as targeting tips. An upgraded online booking engine with interactive calendar showing prices, availability and more can be found at www.hurtigruten.com. Choosing preferences brings up an interactive calendar with all available options and prices. The calendar is also available at www.hurtigruten.us/norway5daysale.
