Oceania Cruises became the third line to agree to visit the new $30 million Banana Coast cruise facility on mainland Honduras on the Western Caribbean. Oceania’s 1,250-passenger Riviera is scheduled to call in March 2015.
Construction on the passenger reception and shopping center was completed in February. A slate of shore excursions includes cultural, historical, soft-adventure and eco-tour offerings. Future plans call for construction of a two-berth, post-Panamax pier.
Last November, luxury operator Silversea Cruises was the first line to commit to calling at Banana Coast, in December 2014. In May, Holland America Line became the first cruise line to schedule a series of calls at the port, beginning in November 2014.
