Seabourn Cruise Line is set to soon launch its next luxury cruise ship - the new Seabourn Encore - late this year, and in preparation for the future, the company has begun building its sister ship - the Seabourn Ovation. The second is scheduled to come online in spring 2018. Both ships are slightly larger evolutions of the Odyssey-class vessels before them.

The initial construction process was started with a steel-cutting ceremony at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. Present were Seabourn President Richard Meadows and Genoa shipyard Director Raffaele Davassi.
"The cutting of steel is a significant milestone in the creation of Seabourn Ovation, as well as the continuing evolution of the Seabourn fleet and the ultra-luxury cruise segment," noted Meadows. "We are excited to witness this important step and look forward to seeing the ship come together. With Adam D. Tihany's extraordinary design vision and the excellent craftsmanship of Fincantieri, Seabourn Ovation will be matched only by its sister ship, Seabourn Encore, as the most beautiful ultra-luxury vessel ever built."

Like the Encore, the 40,350-ton, 600-guest Ovation will be designed by aforementioned hospitality designer Tihany and feature all-veranda suites, a high guest space ratio and attentive personalized service. Making the ship larger than its predecessors are an extra deck and newly expanded public venues.
