Abu Dhabi Tourism to Launch Social Hotel Rating System
Destination & Tourism David Cogswell December 16, 2013

An Amsterdam-based startup called Olery signed a deal with the Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority to provide the technological backbone of a new system of hotel classification and performance rating based on social media.
The technology compares the star rating of the hotel with guest reviews using a system Olery calls its Guest Experience Index. The system will draw guest reviews from sites such as TripAdvisor, Booking.com, Expedia and Hotels.com.
If the guest ratings at any hotel fall below a certain point, the system will alert the tourism authority so it can look into the matter, and if necessary take action as part of an overall program to maintain high standards in the region.
The system will also maintain an ongoing performance review hotel monitoring system that produces monthly reports. And it will provide an interactive dashboard that will provide the capacity for a real-time overview of performance of any hotel.
The system will go live in the first quarter of 2014.
