Cuba Green Lights Licenses for Private Accommodations
Destination & Tourism Donald Wood July 16, 2018

The Cuban Government has approved new regulations that would allow private citizens to obtain licenses to lease their houses, rooms, and spaces.
According to Hosteltur.com, the licenses were temporarily suspended last year, but the new ruling will permit individual owners to rent their houses and private rooms to companies and other legal entities.
The changes regarding the exercise of self-employment in Cuba will go into effect December 7.
To qualify for the private accommodation license, Cuban citizens must request permission in writing, prove they will only exercise one activity and declare the source of financing for the venture.
Self-employed Cubans will have up to 90 days to adjust their businesses, undergo training and work with representatives of the agencies involved in the process. The focus on self-employment by the Cuban government is part of larger plans for socio-economic transformation.
As for transportation, the Cuban Ministry of Transport also made changes to the issuing of licenses for the operation of transport by natural and legal persons starting December 7.
