G Adventures Launches New Family Encounters Tour Series

G Adventures launched a series of more than 30 vacations on five continents designed for families to have fun and to learn together. The company is introducing the programs with a $150 price reduction for tours booked by April 30 for travel in 2013. The programs include such activities as broomstick riding in the U.K., a visit to a ninja museum in Japan, surf lessons in Costa Rica and horseback riding with paniolo cowboys in Hawaii.
“Our trips are designed for parents who want to share experiences with their children and get away from the typical ‘bucket and shovel’ type vacation,” said Alistair Butchers, G Adventures’ innovation manager for active and family product. “These parents are adventurous and want to pass that down to their kids, seeing new places and meeting new people from around the world.”
All trips are guaranteed departures and are planned to take place around school holidays. Minimum ages range from 2 to 12 years. Activities are planned to be appropriate for the designated age group. Accommodations are family friendly with swimming pools and adjoining rooms available in most destinations. The trips are staffed with an additional leader, what G Adventures calls its chief experience officers or CEOs, to make it possible to split the group into different age groups.
G Adventures is offering family programs for Argentina, Belgium, Borneo, Brazil, Canada, China, China, Costa Rica, Croatia, Ecuador, Egypt, France, Iceland, India, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Morocco, Nepal, Netherlands, Peru, South Africa, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, Tanzania, Thailand, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay and Vietnam.
The list includes the Costa Rica Family Experience, priced from $999 per adult and child; the Jordan Family Adventure, an eight-day trip priced from $1,299 per adult and $1,199 per child; and the Thailand Family Adventure, a 12-day trip priced from $999 per adult and $899 per child. Prices are land only.
