If you were thinking of a transformational European adventure this summer, goat yoga in Amsterdam may offer you the opportunity. The Independent's Mark G Smith reports from a hay barn in Amsterdam on Europe's latest fitness trend.
If you are looking for the traditional Zen yoga experience, this may not be it. But it's certainly unique, notes Smith.
"From cobra to warrior, all of the asanas are accompanied by the goats, who cavort around like a busload of drunk uncles at a country house wedding," he writes.
But if you have a sense of humor, it's certainly for a laugh.
"Needless to say, there's none of the serenity of a normal yoga class. My one-legged tree pose is felled in its prime by pulsating laughter as a goat tries to yank my mat from under me," Smith reports.
The experience is far from a joke, though.

"It's almost spooky, the way they echo the vibe of the humans in the class," she confides. "For example, I recently led a class of new mothers, and all of a sudden the goats were very quiet and protective. It was quite moving."
For those with a sense of humor and who are up for an eye-opening experience, this may just be the adventure they are looking for - if nothing else, it's a great story to tell at home.
