New Maui Elvis Show Retraces an Unforgettable Era of Music in Hawaii
Destination & Tourism Thea Klapwald January 14, 2014

Elvis’ Aloha from Hawaii concert made television history in 1973 when it was broadcast live via satellite to more than 1 billion people around the world, solidifying Hawaii’s place in Elvis’ musical career and life. Now, audiences can indulge in the nostalgia and relive the excitement of Elvis in Hawaii with Burn’n Love, debuting Friday, December 20, 2013 at the Maui Theatre in Lahaina, Maui. Burn’n Love will share the stage with ‘Ulalena, which will continue to run four days a week.
The dynamic new show features Darren Lee, an award-winning performer who just wrapped up 11 years as the longest-running Elvis performer in the history of Las Vegas. He also won the esteemed World Elvis Competition in Memphis, Tennessee in 1997. With Burn’n Love, Lee and a brilliant cast of dancers and musicians present an authentic tribute to Elvis featuring his No. 1 hits as well as his legendary outfits, hip-shaking dance moves and irresistible charm.
“Burn’n Love is awesome and unlike anything ever seen before. It is not an Elvis impersonation show, but a full-scale live concert production that will captivate audiences of all ages and musical tastes – Elvis fan or not,” said Executive Producer Mike Kattawar.
Audiences will be transported back to the days of Blue Hawaii and Girls, Girls, Girls with hits like “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Suspicious Minds,” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love” – as well as the show’s namesake “Burning Love” and beloved Hawaii singer-songerwriter Kui Lee’s “I’ll Remember You”.
Burn’n Love not only honors the time, place and historical significance of Elvis in Hawaii, but the deep love that the “King” had for Hawaii and its people. “Two things we know about Elvis – he loved Hawaii and he loved giving,” said Kattawar. “In that same spirit, we are giving back to the Maui community by donating a portion of all ticket sales to the Maui Food Bank.”
“People may think it was Elvis that gave so much to Hawaii but it was Hawaii that gave so much to Elvis. It has been my life-long dream to perform Elvis in Hawaii and I am so excited to share it with the world,” said Darren Lee.
Burn’n Love will run every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday at 8 p.m. at the Maui Theatre. Tickets range in price from $59.99 to $99.99 for an all-access pass. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit www.BurnnLove.com.
