The nation's capital is poised to experience an influx of travelers before, during and after President-elect Donald Trump's Inauguration Friday.
Based on analysis of travelers' booking intent, travel insurance and assistance provider Allianz Global Assistance found Washington, D.C. will see a 222 percent average daily increase of visitors around Friday's inauguration and related events.
Allianz found that 114,000 people will travel to D.C. between Wednesday and Saturday, with a majority of those travelers (56,933) visiting Friday.
The nearly 57,000 people expected to arrive in D.C. on Friday represent a whopping 276 percent increase compared to the two Fridays before and after Jan. 20. Saturday's (18,445) and Thursday's (27,874) figures aren't far behind, though, signaling jumps of 234 percent and 230 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile, the 10,833 people expected to have traveled to D.C. Wednesday marked a 146 percent rise in visitors compared to the weekday average.
"With an upsurge of people going to Washington D.C. before, on and after the inauguration, it’s important to check the box for travel insurance," Allianz Global Assistance USA's director of communications Daniel Durazo pointed out in a statement.

The company's findings are based on customers' travel searches from November 8, 2016 (Election Day) through December 8, 2016, to three major airports in the D.C. area — Ronald Reagan National Airport, Dulles International Airport and Baltimore-Washington International Airport — as well as Union Station.
Despite a cloudy and rainy weather forecast for much of the weekend, on Tuesday, Trump tweeted that people were "pouring" into the capital.
People are pouring into Washington in record numbers. Bikers for Trump are on their way. It will be a great Thursday, Friday and Saturday!

While it's unclear how many, it's likely some of the people traveling to D.C. for the inauguration will be doing so to protest. On Thursday, a handful of celebrities will take part in a demonstration outside of Trump's New York City hotel. Other protests are expected in D.C. Friday as Trump is sworn in as the 45th President of the U.S.
