Royal Caribbean International will extend the DreamWorks Experience to a fifth ship in 2012, the 137,000-ton Voyager of the Seas. Po and Shrek will be among the characters that will attend events and parades, character breakfasts in the main dining room, and photo opportunities. The DreamWorks Experience will be in place at the start of the summer 2012 Asia season.
The announcement was made at a press conference in Shanghai, China, by Royal Caribbean International President and CEO Adam Goldstein and DreamWorks Animation President and CFO Lew Coleman. Po of “Kung Fu Panda” and Shrek also were on hand.
Voyager of the Seas’ inaugural Asia season will start on May 26 in Singapore, followed by sailings from Shanghai (Baoshan) and Tianjin in China. Voyager of the Seas will then sail Australian waters during the winter and spring 2012-13 season. The ship will operate three-, four-, five- seven- and eight-night itineraries in Asia and 14- to 18-night cruises in the South Pacific to Australia and New Zealand.
First launched aboard Allure of the Seas in November 2010, the DreamWorks Experience has been incorporated onto Oasis of the Seas, Freedom of the Seas and Liberty of the Seas, and features some of the studio’s animated films, such “Kung Fu Panda,” “Shrek,” “Madagascar” and “How to Train Your Dragon.” For more information, call 800-327-2056 or visit www.cruisingpower.com.
