According to Scotland's The Herald, the councils of Glasgow and Edinburgh are joining forces with a coalition of 11 United Kingdom cities that have come together to lobby for a new U.K. high-speed rail line. The group is hoping to get funding of up to £35 billion to build a line between London and Scotland, despite differences over which route it would take.
