Serbia Reports 2 Percent Increase in International Arrivals

Although the economic downturn also affected Serbia, the country was alone among European destinations in reporting growth in incoming tourism with international arrivals expanding by no less than 2 percent. Belgrade is rapidly becoming an important destination for international airlines. Austrian Airlines flies to the Serbian capital five times daily, the Hungarian national carrier Malév once a day, and Romania's Tarom three times a week. The Austrian low-cost carrier Fly Niki has inaugurated service between the Austrian and Serbian capitals with six weekly connections.
