Although the economic downturn also affected Serbia, the country was alone among European destinations in reporting growth in incoming tourism with international arrivals expanding by no less than 2 percent. Belgrade is rapidly becoming an important destination for international airlines. Austrian Airlines flies to the Serbian capital five times daily, the Hungarian national carrier Malév once a day, and Romania's Tarom three times a week. The Austrian low-cost carrier Fly Niki has inaugurated service between the Austrian and Serbian capitals with six weekly connections. The low-cost airlines German Wings and Norwegian Airlines also fly to Belgrade. Negotiations are currently underway with EasyJet, RyanAir and WizzAir. For more information, visit www.serbia.travel.
