Travel Resolutions: Try One of These Trips in 2017

It’s the New Year, and with that comes a flock of new vacation days — or at least the potential to earn them, and now it really just comes down to deciding what to do with them. Thankfully, Forbes has some suggestions for the experiential traveler in all of us.
“For years, there has been an explosion in what the industry calls experiential travel, which means actually doing something on vacation, not just relaxing on a beach, and that has fueled an explosion in active travel, culinary travel, wildlife travel and more. There are more great options than ever before, but the problem is you can only take so many vacations in any given year,” writes Larry Olmsted.
Olmsted has a few suggestions, starting with a safari, which may not be as far off as it seems.
“If you have not been you are missing what I I think is truly the world’s bucket list trip. I’ve spoken to many people who didn’t think they would be wowed who were blown away. In fact, it is hard to imagine a personality who would not love a good safari,” Olmsted notes.
Culinary is another growing tradition among hoteliers.
“More and more hotels offer cooking classes around the world and these are a fun way to spice up your vacation that will have long lasting effects and memories you can taste years after the trip is over,” says Olmsted.
There’s not a better way to start the New Year right than by being active—and there’s no better way to be active on a trip than to try a multisport vacation.
“Not only do you burn some calories and get exercise while indulging in all the usual vacation decadence like great food, but it’s often just a better way to see the destination in more detail and immersion and at a better pace,” says Olmsted.
