On Tuesday, "Fast and Furious" stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson and Jason Statham attended a red-carpet premiere as the amusement park opened an all-new thrill ride, “Fast & Furious: Supercharged.”
The ride officially opened to the public on June 24.
Diesel shared a statement about his thoughts on the new attraction following his first ride, saying, “Wow...wow was that cool. It's incredible, it's really remarkable. It's not like anything I've ever seen. Everyone on the tram said, ‘Can we do it again?’ It's super cool!"
The new attraction is a hydraulic motion-based ride that takes passengers through an original "Fast & Furious" story by using sophisticated special effects with a state-of-the-art 3D audio system. The 3D imagery will be projected onto world's longest and most expansive 360-degree screen.
The ride spans nearly 400 feet in length and was built within a newly constructed 65,000-square-foot structure on the Universal Studios Hollywood backlot. The entire ride utilizes and a specially configured projection system to envelop guests in a one-of-a-kind experience.
In addition to the graphics and special effects, the videos will also feature content exclusive to the attraction that includes segments and videos featuring the movie series’ top stars like Diesel, Rodriguez, Gibson, Dwayne Johnson and Luke Evans.
Universal Creative president Mark Woodbury released a statement about the partnership:
“We've perfected an exciting new form of immersive entertainment that combines over-the-top hyper-realistic action adventure with exhilarating custom-made special effects that will transport guests into the thrilling world of 'Fast & Furious.' Our collaboration with Universal Pictures to create an authentic experience through epic storytelling and technological breakthroughs continues to be a hallmark of Universal Studios Hollywood.”
