For some strange reason, many of you will stagger from the bed over to the bathroom scale to start the year and decide that you are finally going to figure it all out and change for the better.
While we find the general giving up of New Year’s resolutions in February far more satisfying, we understand that some of you actually want to maintain that new diet of yours at the top of the year.
Thankfully, WalletHub has unveiled a list of the best and worst cities around the nation for maintaining that all-important promise to yourself in 2017.
If you want to really make sure that health kick sticks, perhaps consider surrounding yourself with likeminded individuals packed within the confines of a major city. The list takes into account a wealth of criteria such as the percentage of adults who exercise, access to health food stores and gyms.
That’s just taking into account resolutions that pertain to health. WalletHub also looked at those resolutions dedicated to personal finance, education, overall habits and relationships—that last one includes a look at cities and their respective restaurants, attractions, parks and nightlife.

And so, drum roll, Salt Lake City comes out in first with flying colors. Followed by San Francisco, Scottsdale, Seattle and Plano, Texas. As for the worst major cities to maintain resolutions, they would be Augusta, Newark and Detroit, which comes in as the 150th city on the list.
If you wanted a more nuanced look the article also features a list of things like the city with the most restaurants per capita (Miami and Orlando) and the most parks acres per capita (Anchorage).
The most important resolution, and one you dare not break, is a commitment to travel more this year, and this list should help you do just that.
