Voom Takes Ride-Hailing to the Skies

Urban airports are increasingly farther from their corresponding metropolitan areas or they are mired in heavy traffic, which makes getting from point A to point B a long slog for travelers.
Voom is combatting this, launching affordable helicopter service for travelers looking to get into the heart of the destinations they have spent hours traveling to without sitting in traffic for even more time.
The service just launched successfully in Mexico City last month after previously launching in Sao Paulo, Brazil, where it has already flown more than 4,000 people in its first year.
Voom expects to surpass that number in Mexico City, where it currently flies three routes, says a report in Mexico News Daily. There are already plans to increase the number flights.
Voom is a subsidiary of the France-based company, Airbus Helicopters. Customers can book flights online with Voom up to seven days in advance or with just 60 minutes notice.
Prices are about the same as a private car—with the advantage of a ride that lifts you up and over the traffic, traveling 30 kilometers in just 12 minutes. In Mexico City, fares are approximately $132-$210.
There are several flights per hour and guests are directed to the helipad for their scheduled flight, where they are instructed to arrive approximately 15 minutes in advance.
The company is currently working to make the journey even more seamless by partnering with other ride-sharing companies, enabling guests to easily complete their journeys on the ground.
Mexico News Daily points to Mexico’s popular Cabify service with which Voom is looking to partner.
