When 'Night at the Museum' Happens in Real Life

“Night at the Museum” is a fun movie about a security guard who interacts and protects a museum when its contents come to life but, a new report in the Guardian showcases the real life experience of people who have actually spent the night in a museum.
For example, one woman realized she was in Germany’s Pfalzgalerie Kaiserslautern Museum after closing.
“A woman made a longer trip to a museum than planned last week when she found herself locked inside after becoming so engrossed in the art she didn’t realize the building was closing,” writes Will Caldwell.
A young American tourist spent the night on a cathedral rooftop in Milan.
“In a classic sitcom scenario, the man was in the loo when security did their final rounds, leaving him locked inside the landmark. Instead of calling for help, however, he decided to take the opportunity to spend the night on the cathedral’s famous spired rooftop,” says Caldwell.

And apparently, people should stay out of museum bathrooms at closing time as a similar incident took place in London’s Tate Britain.
“In another toilet-related incident, a homeless man found himself wandering Tate Britain in darkness after falling asleep in a cubicle close to closing time. Raj Patel, 32, woke from his two-hour slumber to find the museum locked and the lights out, something he described as ‘eerie,’” says Caldwell.
