Where to Travel in February

February is quite an active month for travel, despite it being winter in the Northern Hemisphere and if you are thinking of getting out and about, Escape.com.au has some suggestions. Granted, this publication is based in Australia, it’s safe to say these destinations are top on the list no matter where you are based.
First suggestion is to head to Venice, Italy. It may be chillier in the winter, but this crowded destination is certainly less overwhelming in February — and, lest we forget, Valentine’s Day falls in February as does one of the top events on the Venetian calendar, Carnevale.
“Best of all, since it’s winter, prices to the island are dirt-cheap #winning,” notes Escape.
For a big celebration closer to home, start planning now to hit up Mardi Gras in New Orleans.
“If you only visit New Orleans once, make it for Mardi Gras,” Escape recommends.
Remember, it may be winter in North America, but it’s summer in Australia. Time to get your beach gear ready and head to the Gold Coast.

“By February, school has gone back so you’ll have plenty of space on the beach. Aim to be on the beach early February though as the rains start to fall closer to March,” Escape suggests.
Looking for a warm weather destination for Carnival? Look no further than Rio de Janeiro.
“February is all about Carnival celebrations and Brazil’s is one of the best. Bustling with samba, tanned bodies, feathers, and sequins, it’s a perfect mix of party and beach,” notes Escape.
