Looking for a great travel deal to escape the winter blues? There are definitely some out there, according to GoBankingRates.com. The site has ranked the most affordable cities for a winter break, noting that off-peak destinations offer great deals.
Las Vegas was the most affordable with low room rates at hotels and budget airfares.
“Casinos, spas, gourmet restaurants and plenty of shopping will keep you busy during your trip to Las Vegas. Enjoy free entertainment with the kids at Circus Circus, with performances starting at 11 a.m. And don’t miss the free fountain show at the Bellagio,” writes Sabah Karimi.
If Vegas isn’t your thing, don’t worry. Orlando, Fla., came in at number two for affordability.
“Orlando is one of the cheapest destinations for winter vacations. With the money you save, plan a trip to Universal Studios Florida and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, among other world-renowned attractions,” writes Karimi.
New Orleans is another “hot” destination this winter — when it comes to affordability at least.

“Explore the historic charm and sophisticated traditions of this Southern city with its regal architecture and rich culture,” Karimi recommends.
Maybe you are seeking something more adventurous? Try Denver. The Mile High city offers mountain climbing, biking, skiing and more all winter long at affordable rates.
“You’ll find plenty of snow here during the winter holidays, so be ready with snow boots and ski gear,” says Karimi.
If you are looking for a more metropolitan vibe, Chicago offers great deals in the wintertime.
“Although an expensive city to live in, Chicago is a tourist hub, ranking in the top five of our list of the best cities for a winter vacation. Visit the Navy Pier, John Hancock Center or head to Millennium Park for an unforgettable trip,” notes Karimi.
These are just the top five of more than 30 affordable winter destinations. Check out the rest here.
