If you thought the only thing missing from wearing board shorts while eating buffet fare on a cruise ship in your best cabana shirt was the dark side of the Force, well, you are in luck.
Disney Cruise Line, through a press release, announced Star Wars fans would get a sweeping complement of wookiees, sith lords and lightsabers with day-long celebrations taking place aboard eight special sailings.
Fans will get their chance to rub elbows with nefarious Galactic Imperials and Rebels alike while enjoying the beauty of the western Caribbean.
According to the release, Star Wars days will take place “on Jan. 9, 23; Feb. 6, 20; March 5, 19; April 2 and 16, 2016,” which means the brilliant sights and sounds of Episode VII will still be fresh in the mind of amateur Jedi who are just trying to unwind with a cruise to an exotic locale.
Now if that news isn’t enough to get you screaming like a Jawa, here is a brief teaser:
Here are just a few of the highlights afforded this epic endeavor:
• “Darth Vader, Chewbacca, Boba Fett, Stormtroopers and other characters from across the Star Wars galaxy will be onboard for scheduled meet and greets, as well as roaming on deck and elsewhere around the ship.”
• “In the evening, adults entering the night club will feel like they stepped into the Mos Eisley cantina scene. Characters and cantina music set the mood as Star Wars-themed specialty cocktails are served. “
• “Guests can watch the first six Star Wars films and follow Darth Vader, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Luke and Leia along their epic journey.”
That’s right, folks. There will be an actual Cantina scene, which we hope is filled with some of the grumpiest creatures this side of the Mustafar system.
Officials also encourage guests to dress in costume, because no trip to the Caribbean is complete without a stellar Yoda cosplay.
Other highlights include a Jedi Academy for the younglings, screenings of Star Wars Rebels (which is really just a great show) and a Star Wars deck party and light show, so you can make like an Ewok and celebrate the downfall of the Empire.
All of this is tremendous news and means we can finally bust out our Ki-Adi-Mundi trunks and Darth Maul flip-flops.
