It is indeed possible to hit all five boroughs in one day while shooting a fantastic music video. And all you need is public transportation and very patient fans.
Digg spotted the following video featuring Jeff Rosenstock as he and his band traverse the large swath of New York City in a day.
Now that kind of adventure is a large task for those trying to see as much of the iconic city as possible on a shortened itinerary.
However, Rosenstock and company weren't taking in the sights but putting on the show. Here is a brief video proving that you can put on five shows, each in a different borough, all in the span of a jam-packed day:
The artist spoke to Billboard's Chris Payne about the March 8 marathon session around town and explained the impetus behind the concert to the reporter: "I'm a pretty big hip-hop fan and I was really into that movie Style Wars. It's about New York City graffiti in the '80s. I love the concept of going to all cities, spray painting trains and going to all five boroughs."
Payne's report echoes the fact that the band used nothing but public transportation to get to each and every event, which garnered some delays in transit.
The show in the Bronx, for example, took place at Rodrigue's Coffee House. Rosenstock tells Payne that this was extremely enjoyable event despite some scheduling setbacks: "The Bronx show ended up being my favorite show. I assumed nobody would come see us. We got the show about 15 minutes after we were supposed to start playing. The security person at Fordham was saying it was at max capacity and they weren't going to let the show happen. We just went in and started playing. Everyone there was awesome."
Perhaps this gives you a small ounce of courage that the fearless traveler can indeed dominate New York City.
Fueled by a slice of pizza here or a bagel there, you too can hop on some of the most efficient lines in the world and spelunk about one of the more diverse and captivating cities in the nation.
Thankfully, there is no mandate that you have to play for a bunch of people at each and every subway stop.
