Not content with perfecting fried poultry, KFC Japan has unveiled a hamburger to confound and mystify its visitors.
The Huffington Post’s BurgerBusiness blog reports on the latest quirky menu item to hit International menus.
The blog describes, rather tantalizingly we might add, the Bistro Hamburger: “a 30% pork/70% beef patty with mushroom demi-glace on a burger bun.”
For those wanting a quick look at what you’re missing, the report points to the following commercial, which also features chef Shuzo Kishida who runs Tokyo’s Quintessance:
The report fills us in on exactly how much cash we will need if we happen upon a KFC while taking in the sights and sounds of Japan: “The burger is priced at ¥490 ($4.11 U.S.) a la carte or ¥770 ($6.46) in a combo meal with coleslaw and beverage.”
And there is the reminder that KFC has stretched its menu in other locations, launching a Kentucky Burger in Australia and a Pulled Chicken Sandwich in the United Kingdom.
Recently we wrote about the monolithic Double Down Dog that is currently bogging down dinner tables and arteries in the Philippines.
And for those who want to see what they have in Australia, here is a commercial for the previously mentioned Kentucky Burger, which looks like a pub burger with a giant slab of fried chicken stuffed in the middle:
And with that we have further proof that the world at large is laughing at us all from afar. We are stuck eating our hot dogs with actual hot dog buns and eating hamburgers at hamburger places.
Sure, we have the occasional Taco Bell/Pizza Hut locations in case we have a hankering to mix and match food genres, but we are decades from the kind of fast-food game they are running in various parts of the world.
Congratulations, KFC Japan. You really outdid yourselves this time.
