In the future, being a living artist will not be a prerequisite for performing one heck of a live concert.
The Guardian's Sean Michaels reports the late Liberace will have something of a posthumous live tour complete with a hologram of the iconic performer.
As Michaels writes, the same company behind the famed Tupac Shakur hologram performance, Hologram USA, is producing this event that will appropriately begin in Las Vegas.
The good news for fans of the singer who passed away in 1987 is that the Liberace Foundation is working in tandem with Alki David's company, giving a wide selection of Liberace's works to better provide for an immersive experience.
The report even promises audience interaction. As David states, "the room will be filled with all of the great singer's charm and charisma."
Now there isn't a definitive date yet announced for the world tour, but we presume the stage will feature some semblance of the vibrant and beloved personality who entertained so many throughout his career:
Back in 2012, Hologram USA produced an astonishing spectacle as Tupac Shakur, or at least a lifelike image of him, took the stage at Coachella, delighting astonished fans (video NSFW):
Now it seems "hologram" is the easiest term to relate to audiences, but it's a bit of a misnomer. Michaels states that the technology actually differs from the definition of a hologram image:
"Hologram USA's hologram is not technically a hologram. For Shakur's appearance, as well as the company's subsequent displays, they reportedly relied on a decades-old illusion called Pepper's Ghost."
While there may be detractors of the event, the future tour has the backing of the Liberace Foundation's chairman Jonathan Warren who explained, via The Hollywood Reporter, "[Hologram USA] understands what Liberace was about and are vested in his legacy. Earnings will help us find and fund a new talent just waiting to be discovered."
With stunning technology and an immense catalog, producers will soon bring a modicum of the power and energy of Liberace back to the Las Vegas stage.
