Travel expert Mark Murphy has dropped an all-new episode of the TravelPulse Podcast.
This week, the TravelPulse founder broke down the 2019 edition of the Travvy Awards, the Oscars of the industry voted on by travel agents.
The Travvy Awards are the only industry award show to be featured on television each year, which puts the spotlight where it belongs, on the travel agents who drive the industry forward.
“We’ve been on a one company crusade in this industry because no one does what we do,” Murphy said about agents. “Whether it’s through TravelPulse, our syndication with MSN.com, me being on TV for 8.5 years now talking about the reasons to use travel agents, we have literally been a one-company marching band talking about the virtues of travel agents.”
Some of the biggest winners include the Jamaica Tourism Board, Allianz Global Assistance, ShoreTrips and more. Despite taking home the prestigious honor, Murphy talks about one company representative who was angry he earned a silver statuette again.
Murphy also spoke about a middle seat passenger who had a meltdown on a United Airlines flight, the trials and tribulations of booking a stay with Airbnb, the safety of visiting Mexico and how to score a President’s Weekend travel deal.
