We’ve heard of ugly Christmas sweaters, but it seems as though ugly Christmas trees are quickly becoming all the rage.
People Magazine reports locals in Reading, Pennsylvania, were good and mad when their annual town tree turned out to be Charlie Brown bare and adorned with rather Spartan lights: “Reading's spindly 50-foot spruce drew the ire of residents who said it was ruining their holiday spirit.”
Here is a news report that shows off the tree in all its glory:
Most are preparing to bust out the lights for their respective homes or planning to take in some more iconic fare like that in New York City’s Rockefeller Center or the massive tree posted in Chicago.
Unfortunately, those in Reading will miss out on some chance tourism for perhaps the most hideous town tree in the nation.
We like to think people would come from all over to see the unsightly and lightly festooned tree. Unfortunately, as the following CBS news report states, the tree has been taken out back and put out of its misery:
Cities around the nation are now getting various annual holiday hat tips up for the season. Some are large, others brilliantly colored but not many are all that newsworthy.
For those who took in the ugly Christmas tree in Reading, please consider yourselves lucky. You truly took in something remarkable: a Christmas tree that actually made people grumpy.
