Six Flags Great Adventure Hosts First Autism Day
Entertainment Donald Wood April 25, 2018

Six Flags Great Adventure was already one of the top vacation destinations in the Northeast, but the theme park has teamed with special needs educator Gersh Academy to host its first-ever Autism Day.
During Six Flags’ Autism Day at the New Jersey park, held May 3, more than 100 Gersh Academy staff members and vendors providing services to the autism community will be in attendance to assist guests and their families.
The festivities will also feature special educational presentations from professionals in the autism field, including Dr. Stephen Shore, Carrie Cariello, and Dr. Robert Melillo.
“Autism Day was developed in response to parents of children on the autism spectrum who were seeking sensory-friendly experiences,” Gersh Academy CEO Kevin Gersh said in a statement. “We're always looking for innovative ways to create new opportunities for individuals with autism and are very excited to be working with a great partner like Six Flags Great Adventure.”
The Six Flags event will be organized with the help of the Custom Education Foundation, an organization which develops special programs and events for the autism community.
To attend the Autism Day celebrations at the theme park, visitors must purchase tickets for $32.99 per person on the Custom Education Foundation’s official website.
