These Are The Attractions That Will Shut Down While Disneyland Creates Star Wars Land

We imagine that the construction of the Death Star led to various components of the Empire shutting down for a spell. And so it goes for Disneyland, which will have to close the following attractions until it unveils a portion of the park so powerful it may just blow up Alderaan.

Erin Glover, the Social Media Director of Disneyland Resort, tucked away some massive news in a Disney Parks Blog article on the exciting "Season of the Force" experience that will start in November.

More on that in a moment. But first, we head to the part of the article that signals construction of the "Star Wars" themed lands is soon to get underway, which means several attractions will have to be shuttered.

Glover states that construction will begin in earnest in 2016, which means the Rivers of America and Disneyland Railroad will close temporarily. This means you will now have to walk to the other side of the park instead of catching the park's version of public transportation.

Glover listed the rest of the attraction that will shut down, temporarily, starting on January 10.

These include Fantasmic, Mark Twain Riverboat and Sailing Ship Columbia, Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer Island and the Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes.

So basically the attractions that actually caused you to spend nearly a $100 on admission will still be chugging along at Disneyland. (Apologies to anyone who is actually giddy to visit Tom Sawyer's Island while sitting in traffic on the way to Anaheim.)

That concludes the attractions affected by what we presume will be the best addition to Disneyland since turkey legs.

However, there is some horrible news for those who get their barbecue fix next to people in costume: "Elsewhere in Frontierland, Big Thunder Ranch - including Big Thunder Ranch Barbecue, Big Thunder Ranch Petting Farm and Big Thunder Ranch Jamboree - will close permanently at the end of the operating day on January 10."

If you want to pet animals from here on out you will have to, you know, go somewhere else.

Now if you can't wait for the "Star Wars" ribbon cutting that will take place at some point in the future, Disneyland is serving up a Hutt size portion of fun starting Nov. 16.

Glover offers details on "Season of the Force," which includes the following: Star Wars Launch Bay, Jedi Training: Trials of the Temple (December), a new scene in Star Tours and a reimagined Space Mountain experience.

The Launch Bay experience will have characters from the franchise as well as "special exhibits," plus various items tied to the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens."

Until Disneyland unveils its newest lineup of attractions, it is doing its best to fill the park with as much of a galaxy far, far away as possible, which we absolutely love.
