Supermodel Tyra Banks announced Tuesday that she plans to open a new amusement park in California called Modelland.
According to Variety.com, Banks and her team will open a 21,000-square-foot attraction in Santa Monica meant to bring modeling to the masses via interactive elements, retail, dining and special events where all beauty is celebrated.
Banks said in the interview that Modelland has been in the works for 10 years and much of the inspiration for the theme park came from Walt Disney. She is looking to create a lasting legacy that will help expand the definition of beauty.
“I want people to feel seen and validated. Modelland will provide the tools for them to do so and empower them to embrace, adorn and celebrate their own unique beauty,” Banks said. “Modelland is all about celebrating your flawsome self. We are fun. We are fierce. We are fantasy. And, we are for real.”
The star of “America's Next Top Model” revealed the park is scheduled to open in late 2019 and the hope is the facility will be the first of many locations built across the United States, and eventually, around the world.
The theme park will be geared toward guests of all ages and genders.
