Kate Middleton, Prince William, and Prince George know how to travel in style!
The royal family spent their first New Zealand night at the amazing Wharekauhau Lodge on Palliser Bay, according to Us Weekly.
After touching down in New Zealand on April 7, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended their first official event — a traditional Maori welcome ceremony — and then drove over an hour to the coast, where they caught up on some much needed R&R before their three-week tour began.
"They wanted somewhere they could get over their jet lag privately," a source told Us.
Wharekauhau Lodge was chosen "at the recommendation of the New Zealand government," a Kensington Palace spokesman adds. They also received a "substantially reduced rate."
The Lodge features several private cottages, which housed the royal family AND some of their key staff.
William and Kate reportedly "made the most of the amenities," which included a high-end spa, a heated indoor pool, a private gym, and numerous dining options.
Unfortunately, their stay didn't last long.
On Tuesday (April 8), the family moved to the Government House in Wellington, where they will be spending all but one of their remaining nights in the country.
"They're very excited to be in New Zealand and can't wait to get started," a source added.
