Do you love to rock out to indie music? Were you into skinny jeans before they were cool? Do you own and wear mutliple scarves even in the thick of summer? If your answer is yes to any of these questions then you might be a hipster.
And if so, you're going to want to travel like a hipster. Get there quick, so you can say you were into these destinations before they were cool.
Williamsburg, NY
Of course Williamsburg, Brooklyn’s ultrachic hub comes in first on this list. The city’s swag draws carefree youngsters and indie-loving hippies rocking tight jeans and oversized glasses with their fedoras tilted stylishly to the side.
When they aren’t huddled in groups bobbing their heads to the acoustic sounds flowing out of its industrial-chic restaurants, suits and grunge t-shirt dressers congregate at the Music Hall of Williamsburg to watch local underground artists rock the microphone. The scene is real in Williamsburg, and in this music hall the stage gives videographers, singers, poets and writers the chance to live out their dreams.
Peckham, London
Peckham is attracting such a hip crowd it is commonly being compared to its wild neighbor, Shoreditch. But, there is nothing but good vibes spread around this eclectic hood, especially at The CLF Art Café, which is affectionately known as The Bussey Building located on Rye lane.
Amateur musicians mingling with cool kids flock here to enjoy a night of partying, drinking, laughing and possibly catching a theatrical performance. In true hipster fashion, Peckham guarantees a head-banging, fist-pumping time that lingers until its last partygoer has stumbled into the pitch-blackness of the night.
Braddon, Australia
Braddon might be one of the newest members to join Australia’s bohemian craze, yet even in its early stages it is a force to be reckon with. However, hipsters are not only lured by the pop-up art and vintage shops speckled across its landscape. They are also drawn to the aromas produced by chefs whipping up delicious specialties from Braddon’s plethora of restaurants.
Offering an electric mix, follow your nose to Elk and Pea for Central American dishes or Italian and Sons for their pasta creations; and if sweet tooth is gnawing at you, then the cinnamon rolls at Sweet Bones is worth a try.
Mile End, Canada
If you are in Montreal and ask where hipsters generally hang out, the general consensus is sure to be Mile End. There is no doubt you will see Canada’s hippest town traipsed by all types of characters that reminds visitors of Brooklyn, and like the New York city it is one of the best places to quench your appetite.
With coffee being the beverage of choice, the buzzing of espresso machines are music to the ear for lovers hoping to get a buzz from spots like Café Myriade. With a frosted treat from Saint-Donut, you’ll feel like you’ve died and gone to food heaven.
Newcastle, England
Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither was Newcastle’s transformation into a thriving hipster hotspot. That's what makes its storefronts, which were fashioned into trendy bars, a night owl's paradise.
These days, the winds flowing from its array of old bridges and the Tyne River blow free spirits to Ouseburn Valley, where pubs like the Cluny showcase the creative juices flowing througout the neighborhood.
