Features & Advice Patrick Clarke October 31, 2016

With Election Day just one week away time is running out for travelers to escape the chaos.
Fortunately, Election Day vacations are a thing, as TravelPulse's Jessica Kleinschmidt points out, and there are plenty of hotel packages available this fall for exhausted and indifferent Americans.
Commander In Chief
Where: The Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner; McLean, Virginia
The "Commander in Chief" package at Virginia's Ritz-Carlton Tysons Corner is an epic offer available for election night on Nov. 8.
The $15,000 package will give guests access to the hotel's renovated presidential suite, where they'll be treated to a dinner prepared by the hotel's executive chef, indulge in politcally themed chocolates and receive a massage for two at the hotel's spa.
Slice of the City: Your Vote, Your Stay
Where: The Dupont Circle; Washington, D.C.
Available through Janurary 21, 2017, the Dupont Circle's "Slice of the City: Your Vote, Your Stay" package allows guests to choose sides.
The Democratic party experience includes lunch for two guests at Bar Dupont, a pair of tickets to the Spy Museum and a private tour of the Verizon Center. Meanwhile, the Republican party experience features a pair of hand-rolled cigars, vouchers for oysters and beer at Bar Dupont, a round of golf and the movie "Knute Rockne, All American."
Both experiences aslso include a $150 gift card to Brooks Brothers and are available for a minimum two-night stay starting at $629 per night.
Commander In Sleep
Where: Salamander Resort & Spa; Middleburg, Virginia
Virginia's Salamander Resort & Spa is launching a pair of election packages this fall, including the "Commander In Sleep" package and "The First Ladies" Getaway. The former package includes a two-night stay in a Dressage Suite, drinks for two at the bar, a 50-minute massage for two at the spa and complimentary non-delivery of morning newspapers.

On the other hand, the First Ladies Getaway includes a two-night stay in a double queen room, a Crushed Cabernet 80-minute spa treatment, Stress Burner Yoga or Happy Hour Yoga and chilled wines upon arrival.
Available through Inauguration Day, the packages start at $1,460 and $1,360 for two nights, respectively.
Election Escape
Where: Hotel Commonwealth; Boston, Massachusetts
Many hotels have launched packages aimed at weary travelers looking to escape this year's horse race. But Boston's Hotel Commonwealth's is among the most unique. The four-star hotel's "Election Escape" package blocks the news channels on the television inside of your executive suite and removes the election coverage sections from your daily newspapers.
The package is available Nov. 3 through Nov. 13 with prices starting at $359 per night.
Race to the White House
Where: Kimpton Hotels; Washington, D.C.
Now through Nov. 9, Kimpton is offering the "Race to the White House" package at 10 Washington, D.C. hotels. The package includes deluxe accommodations, a pair of cocktails at the hotel bar, a running map of the nation's capital and a 50-minute in-room massage to relax away your Election Day stress.
Stay Like a President
Where: Renaissance Blackstone Hotel; Chicago, Illinois
The "Stay Like a President Package" at Chicago's Renaissance Blackstone Hotel includes a stay inside one of the hotel's iconic suites, including the three-room Suite of Presidents and the iconic Smoke Filled Suite. However both suites are subject to availability.
