Features & Advice Cherese Weekes September 25, 2014

Telling time seems more like a job of a watch or cell phone than an old-fashion clock. But clock towers like England’s Big Ben serve a greater purpose then letting us know what time is it; they also act as open history books and maps as well.
Although Big Ben is one of the most famous landmarks in world, there are other unheralded treasures and it’s high time we show their elevated faces some love before this planet becomes such a technologically-infused society, their historic beauty and timeless structures become a thing of the past.

The tower, which stands at an astounding 1,972 feet, is reportedly the second largest building in the world, but went for gold by becoming the largest of its kind boasting a huge clock face to complement its gigantic structure.
Since 2012, it has hovered over Mecca’s landscape with 76 floors complete with a shopping center and provides comfort with the Fairmont hotel also located inside. However, when the clock makes its glorious sounds, Muslims are required to take their praying positions.
