Although too much of it is considered a bad thing, the following six candy destinations will make you dive head first in their yummy treats. There’s no need to dress up in a funny costume and plead for it because these candy stores’ doors constantly welcome crazed candy lovers to come inside.
Los Angeles, CA: Sweet! Hollywood
Sure, it is hard to escape the temptations of candy when they are strategically placed by the checkout counter at the local grocery story or on newsstands sprinkled throughout bustling hubs. However, not many stores are like dying and going to sweet tooth heaven.
The aisles of Sweet! Hollywood are a treasure trove kaleidoscopically gleaming with countless candies of all flavors, textures and eras. Even its most matured guests will be inclined to feel like a giddy child by the way lollipops, chocolate, licorice and other sweet temptations decorate this extraordinary candy land.
From the sticky bar, guests are encouraged to create their own chocolate bar recipes, and its new features CANDYLEBRITY allows guests to bite into their favorite celebs. Nevertheless, Sweet! Hollywood’s crowning attraction is the Red Ferrari that sends gumballs propelling through the air. Hollywood is known for its glitz and glamour, and the same can be said about this candy store which stylishly flaunts a candy-coated décor.
Dubai: Candylicious
Dubai has broken many world records with its state-of-the-art architecture, but the city’s fascination for ground-breaking innovations doesn’t only include remarkable skyscrapers. It also includes the love for candy as well, which is dynamically presented in Candylicious, a 10,000-square foot paradise where candy rules.
Nestled in the Dubai Mall, its aisles magically incorporate fantasy and an obsession with everything sweet to provide the ultimate sugar rush. In fact, there’s rarely a moment when a shopper isn’t hypnotized by the millions of colorful displays decorating this chic candy-infused gallery. While exploring all the wonderful flavors of its drenched walls and the lollipop tree, take a look up to see the Candylicious airplane deliciously hanging from the ceiling.
NYC: The Sweet Life
There’s no doubt that this New York City gem lives up to its name, especially since its entire landscape is a journey through the wonderful world of candy. Since 1982, visitors have flocked to The Sweet Life to indulge in life’s mouthwatering gummy, chocolaty, nutty and fruity pleasures.
As appealing as it is the sweet tooth’s dream come true, choosing between international specialties and kosher novelties will be a test that every candy-lover should never have to make. Thankfully, visitors are encouraged to take home a bit of every taste acquired here, which also goes well when covered in chocolate. The Sweet Life also provides a taste of the largest gummy bear in the world, whose 5 lbs. and 10-inch body is guaranteed to be a tasty gourmet treat.
Tokyo, Japan: Kashiya Yokocho
Kashiya Yokocho, better known as the Penny Candy Alley, is arguably Tokyo’s sweetest neighborhood. This is due to the many open-air candy stalls lined along this narrow alleyway filled with Japanese favorites.
The feeling of excitement takes over as a walk along its aromatic façade is met with authentic and historic flavors that date back to the Meiji Period, when candy was officially woven into the area’s heritage. You don’t have to feel like a kid in the candy store to experience this sweet taste of life because Kashiya Yokocho’s traditional candies brings out the inner child in people of all ages.
Littleton, NH: Chutters
When it comes to a counter sprinkled with yummy delicacies, the counter of Chutters in the town of Littleton, New Hampshire comes in at first place. This is because it boasts the world’s longest candy counter, measuring around 112 feet.
Extending as far as the eye can see, this astounding achievement was the brainchild of an employee of the store who was determined to get Chutters featured in the Guinness Book of World Records. From jellybeans and caramels to gumdrops and vintage flavors, there is something to satisfy any sweet tooth. With bold psychedelic displays completely dominating this candy store, there is no remedy for resisting its appetizing atmosphere.
Shanghai, China: M&M World
Many of us have become acquainted with Times Square’s M&M World, but Shanghai has also jumped on the bandwagon with its very own candy store dedicated to the world-famous chocolate. Of course you can expect the two-floor centerpiece to be tantalizingly dressed from head-to-toe in M&Ms of every color.
However, it surprisingly incorporates several cool touches to its ambiance, including M&M figurines dressed in various Chinese-infused themes as well as a Great Wall of Chocolate. Its 1,600-square-feet also provide T-shirts and other products that interestingly blend the culture of China and chocolate together. Can’t get enough of the chocolaty treat? Then take a peek inside of M&M World, a destination that makes the quirky M&M characters come to life.
