The Sundance Film Festival is officially in full swing in Park City, Utah.
Numerous stars and celebrities have shown up at the resort town over the past few days while awards have been handed out.
For those of you in the area (or hoping to visit in the future), there’s a reason why Park City was named “The Best Town in America” by Outside Magazine. It features a collection of premier ski resorts (including the famous Deer Valley Resort), as well as a plethora of high-class restaurants, bars and nightclubs.
Whether you want to hit the slopes, go on a zipline or party it up at night, here’s a look at the spots you have to hit during your stay.
Who knows, by the end of your trip to Park City, you may feel like a celebrity.
Ski Resorts
Deer Valley Resort
You can’t talk about Park City without talking about Deer Valley Resort, consistently ranked among the top ski resorts in the United States. The pricy plot boasts more than 2,000 acres of ski area, more than 100 marked runs, free ski valets, free parking shuttles, fine dining and boutique shopping, and an extensive snow grooming operation.
Park City Mountain Resort
Park City Mountain Resort offers more than 3,000 acres of ski area, eight peaks, nine bowls, 116 marked runs, four terrain parks and 16 lifts. The resort also hosts plentiful public and private ski schools. Be sure to go tubing at Gorgoza Park, or plummet down The Flying Eagle Zipline.
Canyons Resort
Canyons Resort is one of the country’s largest winter resorts, encompassing 4,000 skiable acres. It also features nine peaks, six halfpipes, five bowls, three terrain parks, 181 marked runs and 21 lifts. It includes top resorts Hyatt Escala Lodge, Sunrise Lodge, Westgate Park City Resort & Spa and Waldorf Astoria Park City, as well as many top restaurants such as The Farm, Bistro at Canyons, and Umbrella Bar.
Utah Olympic Park
Utah Olympic Park makes its mark by being an official training site for Olympic athletes. It also doesn’t hurt that it has six ski jumps, a 1,300-meter sliding track and a freestyle aerials training section (and an aerials training pool for the summer). You can also take a trip on a bobsled with a pilot, ride the Extreme Zipline, take a guided tour or check out several ski museums.
Nightlife
Downstairs
If you are looking for a laid-back bar where you can get groovy with the artists and locals, consider Downstairs. Downstairs is unique in that it’s a year-round hotspot for the Sundance community, as artists and bohemians flock to the attraction. You’ll find a lounge and fireplace, a bar to hang out at, and a dance floor featuring live music and DJs. Lil Jon just did a DJ set for his birthday celebration on Jan. 16.
Epic
Epic just opened in late 2013, but it is already living up to its name. Featuring electronic and hip-hop music, Epic has quickly become a go-to destination for Hollywood stars and young snowboarders alike. With a neon-lit bar, a DJ set and go-go dancers, this swanky nightclub is becoming popular for its live events and sessions.
The Sky Lodge
On Main Street, you’ll find The Sky Lodge, a luxury hotel in the heart of the historic center. Featuring oversized and stylish private rooms, heated decks and hot tubs, HD flat screens, a beautiful spa, and plenty of event space, The Sky Lodge is a premier spot to stay in Park City.
Perched atop The Sky Lodge, there is Sky Blue. Featuring a chill, yet vibrant vibe, it boasts a sleek rooftop lounge with a fireplace terrace. Inside, you’ll find comfy sofas, a long bar and stylish lighting. Outside, you can stay warm by the fire and chat it up with the lively crowd.
Park City Live
Another house music and hi-hop hotspot, Park City Live is basically a two-story party, boasting three bars, a main stage and a giant dance floor. You’ll find anyone from DJ and producer Kerry Corsten to Akon and Puff Daddy. It’s the largest venue of its kind on Main Street. Add in the upscale VIP and private events the venue offers, and you have yourself a popping destination. Ludacris headlines on Jan. 25.
Cisero’s
Cisero’s restaurant and nightclub not only features fresh Italian cuisine, it’s also a lively party joint later at night. There’s nothing high-and-mighty about the place, but, then again, that’s what a lot of people like about it. Check out the live music and dance away, or challenge a local to a game of pool. It’s all good. VIP and private events are also offered.
