Would You Want to Explore the Ocean in a Transparent Kayak?
Features & Advice Janeen Christoff February 22, 2017

If you want to take your kayaking experience to the next level, you may want to check out one of these transparent new kayaks created by Crystal Kayak Company, says Lonely Planet.
The Crystal Explorer is its new clear canoe-kayak combo that is made of clear Lexan, says James Martin.
“The kayaks are 11 feet long and just under three feet wide and are designed to accommodate either one or two people. The design includes high sides and the open cockpit of a canoe, while users can paddle the craft as if they were in a kayak. A low center of gravity helps with tracking in the water, making it easier for beginners to use,” he writes.

While you can purchase the kayaks for $1,499, you should also look out for them at rental companies, hotels and resorts around the world, which are beginning to use them.
They are fairly easy to transport, notes Martin.
“The Crystal Explorer weighs 47 lbs, making it easy to carry, while the hardware is marine-grade quality, and the kayak only requires a rinsing with fresh water after use for cleaning,” he says.
