Casino Workers Union Launches Las Vegas Labor Relations Website
Hotel & Resort June 03, 2013
The Culinary Workers Union Local 226 has launched a website for travelers and meeting and convention planners that posts alerts on labor disputes in Las Vegas and how they could affect travel plans there.
The website will be regularly updated with information about actual and potential labor disputes affecting Las Vegas casinos and the status of contract negotiations. Visitors to the site may sign up for email updates and find strategies to protect their event or travel plans from the possibility of being impacted by labor disputes, according to the union.
So far, on June 1, union contracts covering 44,000 hospitality workers in Las Vegas expired. This includes the majority of workers on the Las Vegas Strip. If new contracts are not settled, labor disputes, including strikes, may result. Certain companies have signed contract extensions that will be detailed on the website.
