Despite an overall occupancy of 76.3 percent, the Curacao Hospitality and Tourism Association (CHATA) reported lower occupancy, average daily rate (ADR) and revenue per available room (RevPar) for island hotels in February 2014.
February 2014 occupancy trailed the same month in 2013, when Curacao hotels recorded occupancy of 79.40 percent, according to CHTA statistics. The CHTA data is based on information provided by eight hotels representing 1,696 rooms.
Average ADR for Curacao hotels for February 2014 was $170.88, slightly below the $174.57 recorded in February 2013. February 2014 RevPar was $130.35, also slightly lower compared with $138.53 for February 2013.
Despite the lower numbers, all three variables remain ahead of full-year 2013 figures. Curacao hotels’ full-year 2013 occupancy totaled 67.47 percent, ADR was $148.86 and RevPar was $106.01.
In addition Curacao’s tourist are off to a strong start in 2014, according to the Curacao Tourist Board, which reported 37,415 overnight visitors in January, a four percent increase over 2013.
