Hilton has made its long-awaited debut in Playa del Carmen.
The hotel company announced The Fives Downtown Hotel & Residences will join the Curio Collection by Hilton, marking the independent collection's first property in Mexico.
Highlights at the 93-room hotel include a 50-meter rooftop infinity pool, four dining outlets, a 24-hour fitness center and more than 900 square feet of meeting and event space.
Additionally, The Fives Downtown is located just two blocks from the beach and one block from Fifth Avenue's restaurants and shops. It's also nearby to a slew of coveted destinations, including Chichen Itza, the Tulum ruins, Xplor Park and Xcaret Park.
In addition to an infinity pool overlooking the Caribbean Sea, the hotel's Purobeach rooftop retreat boasts cabanas, massage services, lounge music and a restaurant.
Guests can also request a certified Technogym personal trainer and sign up for yoga classes for an additional cost.
El Tigre will serve authentic Riviera Maya libations, including local craft beers and more than 100 different tequilas and mezcals. The tequila bar will also serve tapas and feature master guides who can advise guests on the menu.
Meanwhile, an Italian restaurant, Mercatto will offer healthy breakfast food, shared plates for dinner guests and a robust selection of craft beers and wines. Also on-site, Marley's Coffee will house coffee, tea and pastries.
For business travelers, The Fives Downtown's flexible meeting space is able to accommodate up to 120 people. There's also a boardroom that seats up to 12.

By joining the Curio Collection by Hilton, The Fives Downtown also enters the Hilton Honors program. The hotel will offer 5,000 Honors bonus points per stay of three nights or more from January 1, 2018, through June 30, 2018.
Earlier this month, Hilton announced plans for a pair of new properties scheduled to open in Cancun by 2021.
