El Cortecito Beach is often referred to as the heart of Bávaro.
One of the best beaches in Punta Cana, it’s known for having a small town and fisherman village vibe.
Located along this top stretch of Dominican Republic coastline, travelers will find the Sunscape Bávaro Beach Punta Cana and the Sunscape Dominican Beach Punta Cana.
Sitting side by side, the sister resorts offer the unique opportunity of booking a vacation in one property while being able to enjoy the amenities of two.
Between the two properties, guests have access to supervised kids’ and teens’ clubs, a theater, disco, plus more than 20 restaurant and bar options. There are also four swimming pools, a children’s splash park and a PADI diving center.
The Sunscape Spa by Pevonia® meanwhile provides the opportunity for a little pampering and quiet downtime, with 15 treatment rooms, including eight connecting cabins and a couple’s cabin with a whirlpool. A sauna, steam room, cascade pool and therapeutic showers are also available.
The two resorts underwent renovation in 2016, with refreshed rooms and suites all designed for traveler’s and family’s needs, including in-room mini-bars, connecting rooms and kids’ amenities.
“All areas of the resort are new or have been completely renovated,” says Ivonne Torres, Director of Sales at Sunscape Bávaro Beach Punta Cana and the Sunscape Dominican Beach Punta Cana. “Rooms and suites have been enhanced with modern Caribbean décor, all restaurants and bars received fresh new looks and so much more. We look forward to welcoming our guests and having them join in on all fun.”
Guests who upgrade to the Sun Club also have access to an exclusive lounge, pool and swim-up bar, as well as three additional bars, free Wi-Fi, and complimentary room service.
When not enjoying all that the resorts have to offer, there’s a variety of local excursions available, which showcase the Dominican Republic’s east coast. One of the most popular experiences takes visitors to Saona Island, located in the National Park of the East. Surrounded by incredible turquoise water, the island is also known for its limestone cliffs.

Nearby is Catalina Island, just 1.5 miles from the mainland. This tiny outcropping is surrounded by a coral reef popular for snorkeling and diving.
A little further afield from the two resorts, travelers will find Scape Park, a natural park inside the Cap Cana community that includes cenotes, caves, caverns and a variety of aquatic activities.
These three excursions are just a few of the highlights among local towns to explore, a fascinating recreation of a 16th-century Mediterranean village set upon a cliff and much more.
