Exploring In Nassau, Bahamas
Hotel & Resort Kristina Rundquist December 05, 2016

Nassau, Bahamas, is a destination unto itself.
So while you’re staying at SuperClubs’ Breezes Resorts & Spa, get out and explore! Nassau offers a wealth of activities, like these:
Beach. Pick one. Any one. It’s hard to go wrong. Whether you want something at the center of it all like Cable Beach, or something a little more laid-back, Nassau’s beaches are arguably among the finest around.
Blue Lagoon Island. Parents will love it because it was home to Flipper. Kids will love it because dolphins! And sea lions, oh my. And the extraordinary opportunity to interact with the amazing sea life in this all-natural, ocean habitat and private island. Swim with dolphins, or experience an encounter with a sea lion or dolphin. It’s a win-win.
Straw Market. Pick up souvenirs and art items to take home at this market, which specializes in Bahamian crafts, jewelry and art. The market, which was destroyed by a fire on 2001, got its name thanks to the intricate baskets and fishing traps local women began to weave using local palm and sisal leaves.

Ardastra Gardens Zoo and Conservation Centre. You can’t help but love marching flamingos. Marching flamingos that obey commands? Better still. This four-acre mini-zoo is focused on the conservation of the Caribbean’s native species, including the endangered Bahama Parrot, and boasts 200 mammals, birds and reptiles as residents. Kids will love the chance to hand-feed rainbow lorikeets and wander the petting zoo.
Rum Tasting at John Watling's Distillery. Conveniently located in downtown Nassau on the site of the former 1789 Buena Vista Estate, this distillery has the distinction of being home to the eponymous rum, known as the “Spirit of the Bahamas.” Take a tour, enjoy a sample (or two) and learn how this traditional Bahamian rum is made.
Segway tours. Climb aboard and hold on. Nassau offers a variety of Segway tours, from those that explore downtown and its history to those that glide you out to the beach for an afternoon of fun and sun.
The Cloisters. Constructed out of French stone, this former French monastery was originally bought and moved to the United States by William Randolph Hearst. Later, Huntington Hartford bought it and moved it to Paradise Island. Today, it is a popular site for weddings thanks to its stunning gardens and striking views.
Pirates of Nassau Museum. Ahoy, mateys! Take a self-guided or guided tour and learn all about the life of the pirates who plied the Bahamian waters. While the wax museum is small (tours take approximately 30 minutes), kids and kids-at-heart will thrill to the battle recreations and the chance to explore their quarters and top pirate punishments. Walk the plank, anyone? Argh!
Exuma Powerboat Adventure. This full-day excursion is full-on thrilling. Passengers speed across the crystal blue waters, where divers have the chance to snorkel with sharks and stingrays. Landlubbers will appreciate the chance to explore some of the Bahamas’ smaller islands and try their hand at spotting iguanas.
Queen’s Staircase. Carved into the limestone cliff by slaves between 1793 and 1794, these steps offered safe passage to troops at Fort Fincastle, which lies at the top. Queen Victoria would later abolish slavery, and accordingly, these steps were named in her honor. Fun fact: Although there are 66 steps, only 65 are visible. The bottom step was covered when they paved the pathway.
