An Australian tourist has called out a popular hotel after his family's stay was plagued by a disturbing ant infestation, news.com.au reported.
Adelaide native Adam Lyttle is upset with Melbourne's Crystal Brook Tourist Park for what he considers to be a lackluster response to his complaints regarding an ant infestation that essentially ruined his most recent experience.
Lyttle, who said he's stayed at the three-star park before, told news.com.au that he and his children didn't notice the ants in their cabin until their fifth day at the park, pointing out that they eventually witnessed thousands of ants crawling from behind cupboards and walls.
"It felt really dirty and that strong ant smell was really overwhelming. It was quite the ordeal, our children didn’t sleep well all night," said Lyttle.
Lyttle said at one point his son mistook the ants' crawling for a ghost.
The family was unsatisfied with the staff's response to the alert they made the following day. According to Lyttle, the staff member was "visibly irritated" and instructed him to sweep up the ants himself since the cleaning crew was gone for the day.
Lyttle said someone eventually came to clean the room. However, he described their effort as a "gentle sweep" that left numerous ants behind.

In a response to Lyttle's complaints on Facebook, the park said it did the best it could.
"We check all cabins prior to (guests') arrival, and at the time of checking the cabin everything was fine, no signs of their (sic) being an ant problem in this cabin," Crystal Brook Tourist Park stated via news.com.au.
"Living in Australia in a bush setting, I would have to admit that this can be an issue from time to time as it can be anywhere in Australia," the park added. "Your complaint came in at lunchtime on Day 5 of you staying in this cabin, I spoke with the assistant managers and they informed me that they did in fact come to the cabin and lay down some ant sand and sand traps and tidy up the mess."
