A nearly $6 million renovation of the new Guy Harvey Resort in St. Augustine Beach is approaching completion.
Located on the Atlantic Ocean in Florida, the 153-room property will feature a coastal chic vibe created by award-winning hospitality design firm Edge of Architecture.
In addition, the property will showcase the outdoor watersports lifestyle brand of artist, scientist and conservation advocate Dr. Guy Harvey, the resort’s co-founder.
“St. Augustine Beach is a perfect intersect of land, sea and sky. The history, gracious southern charm and amazing beach make an ideal setting for our newest beach resort destination and a fabulous complement to our growing portfolio,” Mark Ellert, president of Guy Harvey Resorts, said in a statement. “The entire redevelopment crew has worked tirelessly to ensure this is a resort that works in harmony with the distinctive seaside charm of its neighborhood and serves as a unique vacation escape for families and groups in Northeast Florida.”
Tasked with transforming the resort, Edge of Architecture entwined the outdoor adventure lifestyle with St. Augustine themes. The overall goal was to capture the joy of life by the seashore.
“Each project reflects the mindset I have with my children: always wanting to create memorable personalized connections to the real world environment that surrounds them,” said Malcolm Berg founder of Edge of Architecture. “Here alongside one of Florida’s most dramatic dune-lined beach systems, my hope is for each guest to shed their inhibitions, switch off all daily-life concerns and be present all times, immersed in appreciating and enjoying this awe-inspiring natural environment.”
The whimsical seaside cottage design aesthetic is apparent as soon as guests arrive at the resort, which is emblazoned with massive Guy Harvey murals draping the exterior.
Meanwhile, the new Guy Harvey Grille ‘N Grog is a free-flowing dining venue that envelops the arrival area, combining indoor and al fresco patio dining and socializing with an Outfitter Shop that offers popular Guy Harvey sportswear and merchandise.
As for activities, the resort will feature an on-site Guy Harvey Outfitter program that offers fishing, surfing, photography and other nature-oriented options, all with best-in-class guides and instructors.
“We are proud to unveil our spectacular, new Guy Harvey Resort, Saint Augustine Beach,” said Andre P. Callen, President of HI Development, who, along with his family members, owns the hotel. “Guy Harvey’s legions of outdoor enthusiast fans align perfectly with the mindset of our guests who value family time yet crave an adventurous lifestyle. They desire a relaxing vacation but one combined with activities that offer a meaningful appreciation of our unique coastal location.”
The remodeled property’s guestrooms include new baths, furniture and tile flooring. The work of local artists and photographers will be featured prominently in the rooms and throughout the resort, complementing signature Guy Harvey art.

Considered the John Audubon of marine life illustration, the hotel’s “Gallery”, a permanent exhibit of Guy Harvey illustrations celebrating local marine species and their habitats, is located at the entrance to the resort’s new ballrooms.
“For our entire crew, it’s been an adventure getting here, but we’ve come ashore in a magical place as founders of a special resort destination to showcase the best of art, conservation, and recreation. Today we open a new chapter in the history of St. Augustine,” said Callen.
Reservations now being accepted for mid-February.
