InterContinental Hotels Group recently opened the doors to a sleek, stylish new property in New York City and it's already nabbed a top spot on TripAdvisor.
Located adjacent to the flourishing Hudson Yards neighborhood, just a few blocks from the Javits Center and Madison Square Garden, Crowne Plaza HY36 Midtown Manhatta was designed to be something of an urban oasis for those visiting New York City.
With that goal in mind, the property includes a state-of-the-art fitness center with Peleton bikes and Ample Woodway treadmills, complimentary WiFi throughout the building, premium pillows and in-suite aromatherapy kits, as well as in-room coffee stations.
“As we reinvent the Crowne Plaza brand, we hope to adopt the flare and energy the up-and-coming Hudson Yard neighborhood attracts, while adding our own unique narrative,” Dieter Schmitz, IHG area general manager, said in a statement. “We will tap guests and New York’s iconic energy to help us recreate this authentic story via a refreshingly genuine and energizing guest experience unlike any other in New York City.”
The hotel officially opened its doors on September 19. Since then, it has received overwhelmingly positive reviews on TripAdvisor, commending the property's commitment to personal service. The hotel is now ranked number one in New York City on the site.
Designed by New York City-based architecture firm Stonehill Taylor, architectural elements were inspired by the transportation centers surrounding the building, such as Penn Station, the Lincoln Tunnel and Grand Central Station. To that end, there are soaring concrete columns running the height of the hotel’s atrium and 50-foot tall cascading light fixtures that are visible both indoors and from outside.

Interior and common areas at the Crowne Plaza HY36 Midtown Manhattan are designed with natural materials and vibrant colors to create sleek, airy spaces.
Additionally, functionality was top of mind when creating guest rooms, which include hidden elements such as retractable bed lights, wireless charging stations and expansive work desks. Additional features include floor to ceiling windows and spa-like showers.
“The level of planning that went into this New Modern property is staggering, and guests are sure to be wowed by every last detail," Eric Lent, VP, Crowne Plaza, Holiday Inn and F&B Solutions, said in a statement.
A brand new restaurant concept is also scheduled to open its doors on the ground floor of the property. Known as TGA (The Great American), the restaurant will serve American food with a twist. Menu items will include such things as salmon crudo and wagyu burgers.
