AccorHotels has plans for a new property in front of Mexico City's World Trade Center.
The French multinational hotel group announced Monday construction on the 106-room Novotel Mexico City Insurgentes (WTC) will begin in the second half of 2018 with opening scheduled for 2020.
The hotel will be the second Novotel in Mexico City—joining Novotel Mexico City Santa Fe—and the third in the country overall.
Highlights will include a GourmetBar and a Meet N Workspace. The former will offer local and international cuisine throughout the day while the latter will feature modular workspaces, computer equipment, complimentary Wi-Fi and light refreshments.
Based on its location, there's likely to be tremendous demand for the new hotel. The capital's bustling World Trade Center area is a popular stop for conventions, seminars, workshops and other events, drawing roughly four million visitors a year.
"We are pleased to announce the addition of Novotel Mexico City Insurgentes (WTC) to our growing portfolio and continue the expansion of the Novotel brand in our region. The hotel is a strategic property for the Novotel brand that will amplify our presence in the region," said Kevin Frid, COO, North and Central America, AccorHotels, in a statement. "Located in a vibrant and one of the most important business hubs in the region, the property will be a flagship Novotel hotel in Mexico ideal for business and leisure travel."
