Sandos Playacar, The Family-Friendly Resort

An ideal family vacation must include a variety of things that the entire family of all ages can do, both separately and together. But looking for the perfect place that lets little Johnny get his art on while Suzie runs around on the beach and the teenager gets to explore on her own isn’t always easy to do. Add in Grandma’s need for some quiet and some adult-only activity for mom and dad when they need a break and it becomes a tall order to fill.
An all-inclusive resort is the solution to the traveling problem. It fills every family member’s needs, as well as provides such much-needed together time, so the pressure is off and you can focus on just having fun. One such resort, Sandos Playacar Beach Resort, located in Playa del Carmen and only 45 minutes from the Cancun International Airport, is an example of resort that fills the order for everyone.

This is an entire community where families can sit and enjoy the white sandy beach of the Riviera Maya as well as planned activities for every age. Even the babies, from two to three years old, enjoy their own baby club, while the Kids Club (for up to age 12) offers supervised play on the resort’s playground, as well as crafts, movies, sports and activities. Teens from 13-17 partake in their own club activities, including arcade games, video games, a soft drink bar and a dance floor.
There are many activities that families can do together, including beach volleyball, sandcastle building, swimming, snorkeling, kickball and soccer, biking, walking, billiards, ping-pong, chess and dominoes. A 10-minute bike ride will take the family to exciting 5th Avenue, known for its restaurants, shopping, cafes and people watching.
The Scuba Libre PADI Resort offers snorkeling tours, deep-sea fishing trips, jet skis, and parasailing, kiteboarding lessons and boogie boards. Some of these adventures cost extra, but it makes the menu of things for everyone to do even bigger.
When it’s time for the adults to decompress and have some much-needed alone time, the Spa Sandos provides a massage or open-air hydrotherapy treatment, while the 18-hole golf course is a great way to enjoy a couple experience.
The entire family should come together on this vacation to explore the Mayan culture and the ruins in the area which are accessible to the public for hiking. This protected region is surrounded by Mayan archeological zones, such as those at Tulum, Coba, and Chichen-Itza.

Of course, when it’s time to eat, there are a wide variety of choices, which is great for the picky appetites of the little ones. Everything from a buffet-style restaurant to a slightly dressier French restaurant, the resort has it all. And you can’t leave without bringing the kids to CupCake Café (admit it, the adults will like it too) which offers, what else, cupcakes, desserts, sandwiches and coffee.
The best part of vacationing at an all-inclusive restaurant? Knowing that there is something for everyone to do and something for everyone to eat. Problem solved.
