Heading to Washington D.C. for the nation’s historic inauguration? While It’s anybody’s guess how the day will play out, one thing is certain, this is sure to be an inauguration like no other.
Sure, Donald Trump’s Inauguration Committee is selling inaugural packages for up to one million dollars, but it's also good to know that the inauguration itself is free to attend for the general public and viewing stations will be set up throughout the National Mall.
If you are planning a jaunt to Washington D.C. to see our 45th President sworn in, the real challenge could be finding a place to stay. Although “The District” has welcomed a number of new, high-profile hotels over the past year, rates will be bumping up all over the city during the inaugural ceremonies. Still, there are packages to be had.
If you’re still looking to be a part of the action, here are a nine inaugural packages and one post-inauguration package worth investigating:
JW Marriott Presidential Ovation Package
Situated at 1331 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, right along the inauguration parade route, the JW Marriott will allow you to create your own inaugural party. For $2.5 million, guests can create invite up to 300 of their colleagues, friends and family members. The package includes access to the hotel’s four presidential suites, 325 guest rooms, a $400,000 food and beverage budget, a craft bourbon barrel tasting reception and a team of staff to help you craft your presidential menus, which will be prepared by Executive Chef Adam Salyer. During the actual ceremony, enjoy a private viewing party for up to 300 on the hotel’s 12th-floor terrace, which overlooks the parade route and the Washington Monument.
The Ritz-Carlton, Discover the District in Luxury

The Mayflower Hotel, Autograph Collection; Inauguration Celebration Package
Be at the heart of the action at the Mayflower Hotel, which has hosted every presidential inaugural ball from Coolidge to Reagan. Priced from $45,000—a nod to the 45th President of the United States, the package includes a stay in the presidential suite and two tickets to the presidential inauguration ball on January 20, 2017. What’s more, the property will donate the entire amount to the Children’s National Health System.
Watergate Hotel, Presidential Inauguration Package
What better place to stay during the presidential inauguration than the iconic Watergate Hotel—yes, that Watergate hotel—which re-opened to the public in June 2016 following a $200 million renovation. The property, which opened last June, has inauguration packages rates starting from $2,000 per night. The package includes a City View room overlooking the National Mall as well as dinner for two at Casolare.
Fairmont Washington D.C., Revitalize Your Presidential Inauguration
The newly renovated Fairmont Washington, D.C. is celebrating the swearing-in of the 45th President of the United States with the Presidential Inauguration package. With rates starting from $1,200 per night, guests enjoy a nightly inauguration-themed amenity, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi, complimentary access to the fitness facility and complimentary daily newspaper.
Embassy Row Hotel, Inauguration Day 2017
For an international experience, stay among the diplomats at the Embassy Row Hotel. The property, a member of Destination Hotels, is located in the Dupont Circle neighborhood, just a 15-minute walk from the National Mall. The Inauguration Day 2017 package, with rates starting from $599 per night, includes unlimited Wi-Fi, a 10 percent discount on all food and beverage, complimentary access to the on-site fitness center and admission to the Adult Playground, where you can indulge in foosball, ping pong and shuffleboard before returning your attention to the inaugural proceedings.
Women’s March on Washington
Once the capital finishes with the inaugural ceremonies, the Women’s March on Washington commences. The National Conference Center in Leesburg, Virginia, is offering two overnight packages that include accommodations in single occupancy rooms, meals and transportation to the Washington Metro. The two-night package, priced from $575 per person, includes accommodations on Jan. 20 and 21, two breakfasts and two dinners, and a boxed-to-go lunch to take to the March. Guests with limited time can check in for one night, with rates starting from $275 per person. Enjoy an early check in on the morning of the march, as well as a boxed lunch, dinner and breakfast the following morning.
