Over the weekend, Air France was forced to block 15 passengers from traveling to the United States following President Donald Trump’s new immigration ban.
According to The Associated Press, Air France was informed of the new travel restrictions posed by President Trump on countries believed to be harboring terrorists, and the airline was forced to stop the passengers from boarding flights to America.
On Monday, an Air France spokeswoman told reporters that all of the passengers impacted by the ban were “taken back to their point of departure or otherwise taken care of.” The airline didn’t provide the names, nationalities or other details about the impacted passengers.
While Air France wouldn’t reveal details about the passengers, The AP is reporting that they were from seven Muslim-majority countries affected by the immigration ban, including Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen.
Representatives from Air France originally reported 21 passengers had to be stopped before boarding flights to the U.S., but the airline revised its number to include only 15 people.
As a result of the travel ban from President Trump, the travel industry has weighed in on the situation. Many airlines and other travel-based companies are working quickly to comply with the new regulations, whether they agree with the changes or not.
For those who don’t agree with the immigration ban, protests have popped up at airports across the United States. Airports in Raleigh-Durham, Atlanta, San Francisco, Dallas, Denver, Newark, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Minneapolis and others have all reported organized demonstrations against Trump’s new orders.
