Fashion blogger Arielle Noa Charnas planned accordingly to book a three first-class seat for her family. The six-hour Delta flight from New York to Los Angeles had been the first flight Charnas and her husband had taken with their daughter Ruby so she wanted it to be "as stress-free as possible according to News.com Australia.
Unfortunately, it turned out to be anything, but free of stress.
“I had a screaming, crying, sleepy baby who was so overwhelmed that she couldn’t fall asleep,” Charnas wrote in an Instagram post that possesses over 947,000 followers. “My husband and I paid for first class so that we’d have the extra space and could lay down with her.”

She also explained in her post that from the moment she got on the plane she felt unwelcome. “Once we were boarded I was getting tons of eye rolls and head shakes from fellow passengers on Delta because my baby was crying (as if I could just look at Ruby and say OK now it’s time to stop),” she continued explaining on her post.
“I tried to ignore it until 10 minutes passed and a flight attendant came over to me and asked me and my baby to move to the back of the plane (as if the people in the back didn’t matter). Give up our seats that we paid for and move,” she explains.
Charnas was told she was "apparently making some of the first-class passengers upset" and said the stewardess made the situation worse.
The mother began crying and explained it brought anxiety and stress and "instead of the stewardess being helpful and compassionate she instead made the situation worse.”
After posting her story on her social media, she received over 1,500 comments from mothers alike. One comment, in particular, says she can sympathize with her situation.
Parents: How to Fly with Babies on a Plane
“I got nasty looks too when I flew with my three kids, one a newborn, and all I could think was how selfish their thinking was! Not one helped me (I was traveling without my husband) and one lady even pushed [past] me boarding because apparently, I wasn’t going fast enough. All in all, I was pretty disappointed with humanity after that flight.”
The family flew back to New York recently and Charnas wrote she "hopes for a much better experience."
